We at Mood Disorders Association of Ontario would like to thank everyone who came out to 99 Sudbury to celebrate our 30th anniversary event with Art and Laughter. The evening was a great success with entertainment by the Master of Ceremony, Michael Landsberg, the comedic stylings of five Laughing Like Crazy comics, and 87 incredible pieces of art by artists from Ontario and Chicago.

A special thanks is due to our sponsors: Perimeter Development Corporation, Ontario Brain Institute, Penny and Tom Milligan, and Martin and Catherine Simmons.

This incredible evening was held in the contemporary and charming Glass Factory at 99 Sudbury. In addition to enjoying the fine works of art, the attendees participated in bidding on exquisite items up for grabs in the silent auction and raffle prizes, making video journal entries at the Speaker’s Corner with what the Ripple Affect means to them, and delighted themselves in conversation and good company.

Each year at the Touched By Fire Art Sale and Show we strive to ensure the highest standards of care in the presentation and fair exposure of each artist and their artwork, but sometimes human error does occur. We regret to inform that we accidentally misrepresented a couple of works of art with the incorrect artists. In particular, we would like to express our apologies to Victoria L. Ilgacs. The medium of her work, Light in the Darkness, was misrepresented as a photograph, when in fact it was “drawing on photographic paper.” Our apologies to Emily Eng as well, as her mixed media work should have been titled Open Windows and marked at $649.

Congratulations are due to the five winners of this year’s art awards!

The Best Painting/Drawing Award was awarded to Rachel E. Dorsey for Horizons: Prayer Painting II

The Best Photograph/Printmaking Award was awarded to Heather Fulton for Burial Archive I and Burial Archive II

The Best Mixed Media/Sculpture Award was awarded to Amanda Marie Luis for Alexandria

The Jurors’ Award was awarded to Jae Hwan Li for Dim Judgment

The Audience’s Choice Award was awarded to Nadine Espinoza for Into the Woods

Lastly, thank you to our volunteers and staff who put effort in putting this event together! Join us again next year as we deliver an equally exciting and memorable Art and Laughter event and hope to spread the word on our cause with more rigour.
