General Discussion / My oldest brother passed away suddenly yesterday....
« on: October 27, 2018, 12:16:57 am »
My mind is a blur.....but I think it was yesterday.

He wasn't sick that I know of, but he had pneumonia recently, and was in the hospital?
Update:  he may have died from C Difficile, which can be contracted in hospitals.....they're doing an autopsy.  (most unusual, I guess)

He was my oldest brother 68 or 69.  I also have a brother a year younger....and I have two younger brothers.

Psychological problems run in the family.....like social phobia - not me so much - I worked on it, went to support groups for it etc....

Yeah....haven't heard from Paul for a while.

You might not hear from me for a while.   ;)  I got cable last week...haven't had cable in ages.

It's nice to hear voices in the background in my place - tv....instead of music.

Keep up the good work and you don't feel like doing anything once in a while, no biggie. It will still be there tomorrow.

P, thanks....this helps..

I should pat myself on the back by making a list of my many recent apartment improvements.

I've been tidying up, donating stuff to thrift stores, shredding stuff...this is waaay overdue - I'm in a tiny seniors apartment with not much room.

I shredded a lot of stuff, like bills for furniture I bought in 1993!  :o  I also gave Office Depot a lot of stuff or recycling, like cables, mice.

I have a little more room because I ditched my old double bed, and got a "twin" one.

I'm much smarter at storing stuff.  A lot of stuff I have doesn't need to be "on display."  I got a lot of paperwork when I retired...I'll almost never refer to it, so I can put it away in a box.

BUT.....I was going to tidy up some more today, but I froze  - I was completely "freaked out" by all the work I have to do.  I felt really bad that I froze.

Standup comedy via MDAO re World Mental Health Day Oct 6.  I was feeling fluish, and didn't think I'd feel better by the first rehearsal, Sept 26, so I cancelled.  It was going to be a rare "paying" gig - a $30 honorarium!

BTW, my feeling "fluish" is probably a "viral infection" - I've had this many times....there's no treatment for it.  I don't think I've actually had the flu, thank goodness.

Viral infection=I feel very weak, feverish....no cold symptoms.  (maybe cold symptoms the first day or so)

I feel better now.

Good for you for being on your own!

You'll feel better about yourself.  Congrats!

About being a bit lonely, that's to be expected.......at first....July wasn't THAT long ago.  I guess you've heard the usual advice about getting to know the neighbours, clubs and such?

I'm o.k......I was looking forward to doing a comedy show Oct 6 for World Mental Health Day, but I was sick, so I had to cancel.....(separate post)

Update:  I still get the odd bite at my computer chair.....which is odd.....not my bed so much.

I'm getting some more tools to fight them, like things that go on the bottom of bed/furniture legs, so they can't climb up.

It's still creepy.

I was only depressed a couple of days.

Since then, I've been tidying up and "renovating" more.

After tidying up, I found 4 pairs of scissors I was missing.  Some were spares, others were for cutting heavy stuff like cardboard.

(my second sleep lab was cancelled - turns out they got enuf data from my first one)

I was depressed a couple of days, first time in a long time, thanks to Mirtazapine (?).  Better today.

I was overwhelmed with redoing my place, tidying up (the usual!).  I have trouble (sometimes a LOT of trouble) with mechanical things, like putting my new bed frame together.  I think there are some parts missing, like bolts, which I bought in a hardware store.

It's on hold for now, as I have a ton on ironing to catch up on.  My mattress is on the floor (threw out old one).  Feels a little odd, but.....
