Eureka!  Haven't thought this out completely, but I softened my position on this.

A person could ask why it is taking ME so long to change -
-my being untidy
-putting things off etc....

Hi, Peace....Maybe it did....a bit.  This was ages ago - can't clearly remember.

BTW, my psychiatrist used to take my cigarette pack and throw it in the garbage in his office.... :-[

I quit on my own since then.....not exactly on my own - Nicoderm, support group at CAMH.

all he'd have to say to me is "you've talked about doing that since our initial appointments, please have it done by next appointment" and that was all I needed.

My ex psychiatrist used to tell me to leave a message on his phone once I've accomplished the task.

General Discussion / What's on your mind? Do something about social phobia.
« on: November 30, 2018, 04:16:16 am »
We have a category of "what's on your mind?"  On Mood Garde, another forum.

On my mind will be the social phobia in our family......and people not going anything about it.... :(

The social phobia will be more visible. when we all get together.  (sorry for not being inarticulate about this...)

Since I'll be seeing family members at Christmas....(we exchange gifts on the 15, and bring potluck)  Actually, instead of gifts we donale to Toronto Wildlife.....I think.

I used to have a lot of social phobia....worked on it - Psychiatrist, support groups at MDAO????

I do/did something, A LOT about the social phobia, but no one else seems to.    :o

But, I realize my relatives aren't
genetically identical to me........because I can change, doesn't mean they cah also change.  Sorry if I'm inarticulate.

But still...........btw, because I strongly think this, that doesn't mean I'll confront people about this....Not suitable, in various ways.

If you have any questions......

I'll mention it to nurse practitioner soon.  It would be a geriatric one, as I'm 71.

I need help with procrastinating, for one thing........that's a BIG thing.

Possible reason for procrastinating/avoiding......"I'm not worth it".....i.e.,re doing self improvement things.  "I"m not worth improving, so why bother?"
Just a thought.

Re health anxiety, my friend in Japan (he's from here) says he's a hypochondriac....I haven't really noticed that.  Maybe he doesn't open up enough - typical male! :o
He asked his Dr. for blood pressure medication, even though his b.p. is normal.  Dr. gives him prescription!

That was a couple of years ago.  He now has fibromyalgia...(sp.).....I'm sure that it's real, as his pain is pretty bad, among other ailments.

I know some Dr.'s think it's imaginary, but his isn't....he's suffering.

General Discussion / Re: Sleep clinic...

So much positive feedback!

I can get used to wearing the mask - a person can get used to almost anything.

Re getting used to things, I haven`t used salt for over 30 years.  The odd food (very few), I have to have salt, like fish and chips, corn.

The last few months only, I`ve been putting a bit of salt on potatoes.

During my 30`s, my blood pressure was slightly high.  Dr. said to cut down on salt....or don`t use any?......I forget.

Peter

I realize there's a lot of hidden salt in food.

I found out I have sleep apnea.....didn't know I have that.

I'll have to wear a CPAP mask.

I test drove one on my nose only at the sleep clinic.

I can adjust to wearing one when I sleep.....not the end of the world.
Some people say they sleep more soundly wearing one.

Hi, Peace......Good question!  The answer is yes.

I've had health anxiety lately anyway when I think about being 71.

I learned today I have sleep apnea.  I'm getting another sleep lab session while wearing a CPAP mask that St. Mike's provides.
This is to see how mine should be adjusted once I get one.

My brother may have died from C Difficile - waiting for autopsy.

My friend had the same thing last week.  It's serious, but she was only hospitalized for a couple of days.

Great advice from Paul!  I'm still trying to think of suggestions/ideas.

There will be an autopsy/may have been one, but only family Dr. gets results.

The viewing is Tomorrow, funeral is Friday.

I'm so frazzled, I'm mixing the days up....worried about fainting, and having bandages on my face from that.  BTW, if that did happen (one in a million), :) I wouldn't be embarrassed, nor embarrassed to walk around with bandages.
