Hi.....I recommend Mitch Hedberg (RIP).  Offbeat like stonefaced Stephen Wright, but much more personality.

I'm in Laughing like Craz(ier)....We have the odd off colour joke, but not too many.

Old jokes -
-Paul M. is really nosy.....he knows the name of The Unknown Soldier
-I'm really paranoid; when I'm watching a football game, and the guys are in the huddle, I think they're talking about me!

Re "it's never too late," I didn't think I had any musical talent until my early 40's (keyboard).
Before that, I started learning instruments on my own, usually giving up after a while.....no particular reason, I guess.
I'm 68 in June.

I've been slacking off keyboard for years, trying ukulele lately.  I'm back on keyboard, maybe try the uke the odd time, but hard on the left hand fingers  :-\, especially if I'm rusty.

A person can change/it's never too late.

A professor in the U.S. wrote a book on how to do math and science even though you flunked them in school, as she did.  (me too)  I can find the title later.

Anyway, she had a B.A. in Slavic Studies, decided at age 26 or so to learn math and science on her own, even though she flunked them in school.

She now has Ph.D. in engineering!

Good idea for a thread, Rich.

Re your "got up at 4:55 (?) today," I got up at 4:30 pm today.... :-[   I was under the weather yesterday....better today.

My Dr. just took me off Lipitor - I forget his entire explanation, "it's a numbers game" for one thing.
He said my heart attack etc risk is low due to my blood pressure results and such.

He said I can try it again in the future.

Speaking of health, bad "stomach flu" or something.  I had a fever, which I haven't had in ages.
Better today.

God Grant me the serenity to "accept the things I cannot change"

Good one - I forgot that one.....  Therefore I don't worry so much about certain relatives that I cannot change......

This might help me.  Someone defined it today, but I forget what he/she said.

I always think acceptance=admit something, and never want to change it....which I'm wrong on.

New routine.....I have a plastic octopus (?) tentacle about 6 inches long - fits on my finger.

If they ask:  "Anything else with your coffee (or whatever I'm ordering...."  I show them my octopus finger and say:  "And a bucket of fish heads for my pet squid please......are they fresh?"  Too offbeat for a lot of people, especially if they don't have great English skills.

The guy in the Second Cup in the Eaton Centre laffs his head off at my stuff, but he wasn't in Friday!....next time!

Don't send me back to the institute!.....LOL

Hi, WR....I have no pets, but I like finding neat pet pics, esp cats on petoftheday.com and cuteoverload.com.......I post a lot of them on Facebook, and oddball pics I find on Tumblr blogs, like old ads.... I posted an old ad that showed an infant drinking 7-up!!!  Something about the infant will be more social from drinking it....I forget.

Peter

I also like joking with cashiers, people working at Second Cup or whatever, and saying thank you in their languages if I guess correctly.  They often get a big kick out of it, esp Ethiopian women.

This isn't something I can control - the other day I was feeling bad, but I was very chatty, but not by choice - it just happened........I wasn't trying to be cheerful.

The truth of the matter is that I'm extremely lonely, but I was too embarrassed to say so
Big deal!....same with "seeking sympathy."

Peace, are you in a rural area, small town, city?  I'll try to think up some suggestions....

take care......Peter

The people you ask to go on walks.....they're busy, or too busy?

The current rookie MDAO comedy class sometimes uses the room beside ours - the veterans' comedy class.

I try to freak out the rookies by asking "Excuse me, is this the I Can't Stop Watching Dog the Bounty Hunter Support Group?"   :o

The two teachers in the group spoil it for me every time, by saying:  "Hi, Peter!"

Oh well....
