General Discussion / Re: Great exercises for anxiety, etc.!

One brother finds the oddest stuff!

And odd music!:
-Johnny Cash singing in German....also the Supremes!

-Leningrad Cowboys (from Finland).....a little "funny looking!!!"......sometimes they are backed up by the Red Army Band and Chorus - I give the Russkies a LOT of credit for having a sense of humour

-The Screaming Mens (sp) Choir (from Finland).....sometimes called "Shouting Men"
Very entertaining......they "rearrange" a lot of music....LOL.......they don't just "sing" songs, they "sing" treaties, national anthems, The Preamble to the American Constitution.....etc.
If Finland has a treaty with Sweden, let's say, they would "sing" the treaty.....LOL

WRAP idea about personal responsibility very seriously.   Only you can heal yourself . . . medicine has very limited tools, it can't fix you.

Maybe medication "can't fix you," but it helps along the way.

Maybe I would think about relatives having attempted suicide all day if I wasn't on meds?  The attempted suicides would be hard for one to "process" on one's one.....like me.

Messee, this is society in general....not you.  Middle class people and/or people with B.A.'s forget that here are lots of people without B.A.s who aren't articulate enough to express their problems....aren't great at reading.....would be helped more by meds than therapy.

Also, a lot of elderly people don't "take" to therapy - meds would help them more.

Thanks for the tips, Dragonfly.  I'm semi-vegetarian, and don't cook so much (I eat odds n' ends, but healthy).  Anyway the cat may not like my food.

My two younger brothers live together, and it seems like they ONLY eat Indian food.  I love Indian too, but tolerate the heat less and less.....if they had a cat...LOL

Hi, S.....I knew that - same with cream.

The last few years of its life our last cat ONLY ate liver - spoiled! - my father worked in a butcher store.
Too much liver is toxic to cats.

All I said was "meow meow" anyway.

Thanks, guys.  I aim to go to the Human Society to fill out a form next week.

I've already got empty boxes, paper bags, and a tunnel from Dollarama for it to play with.

Getting a cat or cats who gives you unconditional love keeps your thoughts off of your troubles.

"Emergency Nap Syndrome" - borrowing one of Paul M,'s expression.... When you have a nap NOT on purpose, when you're depressed or anxious.

I had one tonite.

I'm getting a cat....but I wanna clean up/tidy up first in case it hides under the bed....or similar.

Anyway, I have a lot of tidying up to do.....  I was going to do a ton tonite, but I felt really drowsy all of a sudden, and HAD to take a nap.  No thoughts were going through my head...I just had to nap.

If I tell someone how long I've been putting off adopting a cat because of not tidying up......embarrassing!
 :-[  I wouldn't tell anyone that.

The unconscious/subconscious (?) reason I keep putting this off - getting a cat is a change in routine/lifestyle......especially maybe sleeping routines, since cats can have non human sleep schedules....LOL

Thanks for liking my act.

I've only seen one other person use props - he wasn't in my class.  Actually, a guy in my class hangs a giant clock around his neck......never explains why it's there, but sez eventually, while looking at the clock:  "This is the end of my set."   ;D

General Discussion / Comedy show on Thursday 16...
« on: April 18, 2015, 10:39:03 pm »
We did a comedy  ;D show April 16 at the Imperial Pub and Library, just east of Eaton Centre.

It went well, but a lot of it was a blur.....I took Lorazepam before, but I don't think that caused the blur.

This show wasn't advertised because the back room where we played is so small it only holds friends and relatives of the comics...

There may be a group picture of us on the MDAO site.

Hi, Dragonfly.....Sorry you're having a hard time.

I'm depressed off and on....not so much today.  I had briefly thought of dropping out of my comedy course....."I'm too depressed - I have to quit."

We have a class tomorrow, and next Thursday is dress rehearsal.....the show is April 16.

We can use some old jokes if we don't have enuf jokes from the current course to make up 5-7 minutes.

I'd like to use an old favourite:

I was really depressed last summer.
Audience:  How depressed were you?
I was sooo depressed, the
cockroaches in my apt felt sorry for me, and bought me a ticket to Canada's Wonderland!
  :o

This only occurred to me just now - my jokes where the audience has to ask:  "how depressed?" or "how long" or whatever....  I can get them to ask:  "how f'n (or the whole word) depressed?"
