Hi Peace, sorry to hear your  holidays didn't go so well,

Our holidays were a pleasant surprise as the snow held back and we had safe journeys to my sisters house in Brampton, so I am grateful for that. Rich and I had a nice one night getaway in downtown Toronto and saw a movie ( the hobbit at the VIP section) which was actually free for us because we used our scene points.... my daughter kept and eye on our mother in law who isn't doing so well these days. It was nice to get away, if even for one night.

I hope others managed to have a nice holiday and if not .. I hope that they survived them with more insight than scars. It was a great comfort to me to have good weather and not have to take any pams this holiday season! Whoot!

General Discussion / Happy New Year Everyone!

I saw a facebook post that said, "Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book, write a good one" .... wishing everyone a book of adventure rather than drama.

May you all have a safe and happy new year's eve!

Hi Paul and everyone! I know I don't write on this board too often, I just wanted to put my hat in the ring and wish everyone a happy holiday! I too lack the Christmas spirit, but I do my best to grit my teeth until the holidays are over. I just get so anxious over all of the travelling to people's homes, knowing that there are those on the roads who have too much "Christmas Cheer" and I guess it leaves me paranoid. I pray that the snow will let up long enough for safe journeys for everyone. Thank God for my pams! We travel from Toronto to Brampton every Christmas and I just hate the travel!

Seeing family is nice if we didn't have to travel so far. Our home is too small to host gatherings to I guess that is what we are faced with .... anyway, I hope I don't leave others paranoid with my post. I know this is the place to vent, so I am venting. All I can say is bring on the New Year! I hope the winter goes by fast and we can enjoy another Spring and summer season soon enough!

Cheers everyone!

Good Topic Dragonfly! I am thankful for my hubby Rich and this forum for without it we wouldn't have met! I am also thankful for my supportive family and for the gift of forgiveness that my family has shown me for all of the horrible things I have done that I can attribute to my illness. Now if I can just forgive myself that would be just grand! I am working on it!

But I guess that is for another topic!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

General Discussion / Re: Lamictal and Abilify for Bipolar 2?
« on: September 07, 2014, 08:17:58 pm »
HI Jenny, I am taking lamactil 300 mg and 20 mg abilify . I had to be worked up slowly on lamactil .... it helped me with depression which I know is common with bipolar 2 .. even though I am bipolar 1 since being on meds I have had a lot of depression so it helps.

I do quite well on these meds. I haven't had any problem with them so far.

Hope this helps.

Depression and Bipolar / Re: What's in our feel better Tool Belt?
« on: August 05, 2014, 08:53:39 pm »
Hi Everyone, my toolbelt is looking a bit sparce these days but I do like to work on the computer to keep my mind active and off of my disabilities. Luckily I have made a great contact with positive fun people who appreciate my talents and I enjoy working with them. The money is not great, but I get a lot of satisfaction in upgrading my skills and having the human interaction of meeting with them every day. I am a bit of a workaholic, so I have to rely on Rich to pry me away from the computer, but other than that, I tend to spend my time conquering a computer free fall game called Maleficent.

OH and of course there is the household chores of cooking dinner and laundry for a household, the fun never stops!

Compared to other's posts here, it makes me think that Maybe I need to get a life, Ya think?

When I was at my worst, I relied on making sure I took my medications and going after every source of free help I could get, caseworkers, socialworkers for counselling, progress place to keep me busy and active and out of the house.
I highly recommend keeping busy when you need coping skills, those were mine.
