Hi, guys.....Maybe a person could ease into it?

Chair yoga first?

Don't know much about chair yoga, though.

Not procrastinating as much lately.

Didn't occur to me right away why - from doing yoga lately!   ;D  (the yoga makes me feel better somehow)

I've done yoga off and on for years and years.

Starting again, but slowly....10-15 minutes a day for now.....AND, I do it when I wake up.

I only did it in the evening before....maybe when I get up makes a difference....

Went to Emergency at St. Mikes.....a lot more blood droplets on my bandage than usual.

Dr. said to not worry about it.

Just my luck - when I get to hospital, almost no blood.....but I showed him the previous bandage.

Of course, St. Mike's Emergency is a "zoo."....lots of security.....there was a guy in handcuffs.... :-[

I've seen guys in handcuffs in Emergency (other hospitals too) a few times.

Taking a while to heal completely!

I hadn't seen one in months >:(.  Saw one the other day....I killed it.

Got home Saturday, and there were hundreds on my sheets and comforter.....and dark stains, which turn out to be their poo.  Yuck.

I think I got most of them...a lot of them.

I'll tell my bldg management in a few days.

Peter

I was shocked!  Also, none (that I saw) for ages, then I see a zillion on one day.

Thanks, Dragonfly!

Went to plastic surgeon yesterday.  She took out my stitches - no more surgery!   :D (but there's the odd loose end which is too technical for me)

I have to be careful with my shoulder, and should be able to exercise in a couple of weeks.

Re the fungus (?) on my legs, the prescription cream stops working after two weeks, so I stopped it.  Not sure if it helped.  This dermatologist is in Europe for 3 weeks, and maybe hasn't even seen the biopsy the nurse took.  Maybe I need an oral antibiotic if it's a fungus?

I see her next week.

General Discussion / Celebration of Life for Tom Smallwood
« on: May 30, 2019, 06:46:15 pm »
(guess it's ok to post this here)

Quote
A Celebration in honour of the life of long-time Hope and Me volunteer Tom Smallwood will be taking place on Monday, June 3rd at the Northern District Library (40 Orchard View Blvd, Toronto, ON M4R 1B9) from 7 PM till 9 PM in the Gwen Liu Meeting Room (200).

Tom began volunteering with us in June of 1997 and proved to be an invaluable asset to the MDAO team for over 20 years. Tom was known by many for his unflinching work ethic, a profound sense of compassion, and unwavering dedication to the Hope and Me cause. He was eager to provide appropriate and meaningful resources to anyone who walked through our doors.

In 2016, Tom was the winner of the Karen Liberman “Lit From Within” volunteer award. Karen comments shared during the AGM that year “ Truly, I cannot think of a more deserving recipient than Tom. He epitomizes everything that this award for volunteerism stands for. Tom was there, quietly taking on his role as a calm, kind, caring friend on the telephone and in person.”

On June 3rd, we would love to have you join us with some of Tom’s family to commemorate the life of this exceptional man and his incalculably effective efforts at actualizing the Hope and Me vision.

I knew Tom, as did others around here.  My operation is around 4 that day....not sure if I can make it.

Saw the plastic surgeon today.  She has to "make an even bigger hole" than my current one with 3 stitches on my shoulder.  I have basal cell cancer according to the biopsy.

All these years (I was told.....25 years ago or so) that I had melanoma on my face (tiny spots) and shoulder........  I have basal cell cancer on my shoulder.

It turns out basal cell cancer is common, and the least (?) dangerous type of skin cancer.  The plastic surgeon said that if my shoulder was untreated, not much negative would happen - it's rarely fatal.

I count my blessings - my treatment is outpatient, none of this hurts, is covered by OHIP, very little blood.  But I am in shock somewhat.  That'll go away.

I celebrated with pizza and chicken wings all weekend.

There's a tiny hole in the wall place near me that has no seats......maybe the best pizza I've ever had!

Their wings are baked, not fried......healthier.
(plus, they get a kick out of me saying "nandri" for thank you in Tamil.  Lotsa Tamils in my neighbourhood.

Hi, Paul....Thanks....

It turned out the plastic surgeon did a biopsy....hurt very little, 4 stitches.

She was puzzled that the dermatologist from 25 years ago used a laser on my shoulder skin cancer.....

I'll get the results in a couple of weeks.

Haven't celebrated with family members for ages.  We didn't make such a big deal out of it when younger, anyway.

I was going to get takeout from Red Lobster - they now have takeout!

Instead, I'm getting very good pizza from a hole in the wall place near me, and (baked!) chicken wings.

Peter

How about you?  Maybe I'll look for a restaurant tomorrow.

My surgery is Monday.....out patient, I assume.  Covered by OHIP.

The plastic surgeon has luxurious facilities with two hospital beds for more serious stuff,  I guess.

I'm a bit worried, not much.

Although I wear $500 orthotics in my shoes (my former work plan pays for it), I started getting a really sore instep when walking.
I looked it up, and it's plantar fasciitis.

It's 95% better, thanks to stretching exercises.....and not wearing slippers at home.  Maybe surprising?
Cheap slippers offer no support.  Maybe more expensive ones do.

Anyway, I (until recently) never wore shoes indoors in my apt.

A nice thing about support groups is sharing the same ailments:
-a woman on Mood Garden (I recommend it!) is getting cancer removed from her nose...she sometimes posts "before" and "after" pictures.
-she also had plantar fasciitis, like me

I'm getting plastic surgery on my shoulder soon....covered by OHIP.  (I had skin cancer on my forehead (2 tiny spots), and on my shoulder burned off 20-25 years ago.

The forehead stuff you can hardly see, but the shoulder area, there's a permanent "wound" the size of a loonie or bigger.  It's squishy and darker than the rest of me.  Doesn't hurt.

I saw a cranky (!) dermatologist at St. Mike's about something else...turned out to be nothing.  Then I asked him to look me over....when I showed him my shoulder, he referred me to a fancy plastic surgeon on Avenue road.  Because he was so cranky, I didn't ask a lot of questions.  Probably I get a skin graft?  Local anaesthetic?
