Yesterday morning.....fell off the bed, twitched for a few minutes, and died quickly, I think.
Didn't suffer. He wasn't sick. He was overweight, though.
He was 11. I had him for a year - my first cat. I had asked the Humane Society for an older one.
Very shy and skittish. Took him a while to warm up to me.
I named him "Moo Moo," but I actually usually called him "Meow" or similar.
Peter :-*
Today's my birthday - 69 ;D Re Moo dying just before my birthday, I don't dwell on that.

Peter,
That's so sad! I'm sorry for your loss. It's always tough to lose a pet.
On a happier note, happy birthday!

Hello Peter. That's terrible. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I too hope that you can find some happiness on your birthday. Take Care. paul m

Hi Peter,
I haven't been on the forum for awhile. I am sorry that you lost your cat. They become so much a part of the family. Right near your birthday too.

Why Didn't I Have a Cat Before? (he was my first cat!) - these two reasons are "beneath the surface," and hard to uncover.
Didn't want to break routine? The reason I don't do a lot of others things.
I'm not "good enough" to look after a cat? "core belief"
(I'm taking a 6 session course on combatting depression using CBT and dialectical behaviour therapy) - when our social worker group leader wrote core belief on the wall, it "jumped off the wall" at me....LOL
The core belief being = I'm not good enough/I'm no good. I'm not good enough to do a lot of things! (I guess) Good news: that's probably the most common core belief.
When I had my cat.
-he sometimes mad me kinda depressed - I felt sorry for his cat existence of just hanging around all day
-I often thought I was doing something wrong, not doing enough for him....not playing enough with him - he didn't like to play, though
One more thing - my youngest brother had a cat...passed away a few months ago - he felt exactly the same as me!
