Check In
« on: September 09, 2016, 09:40:04 am »
How is everyone? Missing you all. Would love to hear from everyone.

I'm struggling. Some ceiling work and painting going on in our home to be able to sell it, and it's become quite chaotic. Trying to fight off guilt when my soon to be ex-husband tries to get me to pay for things I don't feel is needed. He just buys, submits the receipts to me, and if I hesitate to pay, manipulates me. He called me a disgusting monster when I separated our bank accounts after stressing too much over watching it drop by $20,000 twice in one year, and having absolutely no say in the spending. He convinced our daughters I'm "cheap", when in actual fact all I want is some money in savings, partially due to both my parents running out of money.

Anyway, change is hard for many, but with OCD being severe it's exceptionally hard. As an example, I wasn't able to go for my walks when I visited my sister because I'd have to turn to the left when I walked out her front door in order to go to the area with the least traffic and noise, when at home I always turn to the right every time I walk. Not being able to turn to the left is an OCD issue. The last time I stayed at my sister's I did go for one walk and turned to the right (I was feeling good that day), and I was very proud of myself. My long way of explaining why the changes to the home to get it ready to sell are affecting my health negatively.

OCD when not managed is extremely debilitating. The proper treatment for OCD, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is not covered by OHIP, or at least I haven't been able to find OHIP covered treatment. The one psychologist in my city I found who treats OCD is $215 per hour, and not located somewhere I can get to.

Sorry for the book, obviously what I call a "bad OCD day", making it difficult for my mind to turn off.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone else.  :)

Sorry that you are having such a hard time Peace. Hope things will get better for you.

I am doing alright. I have been very worried about my son due to his separation from his spouse. He was having a very stressful time at work. He was a labor foreman. Now he is a laborer. My son told his work he couldn't be foreman anymore which was okay with them.
My son is moving on. He has now got a woman in his life with a daughter that is 3 months younger than his daughter. My son's daughter and son get along so well with his new woman's girl. He is starting to be much happier.

My daughter had a car accident. Luckily she is okay. Has been off work for about 2 and 1/2 months. Had whiplash and injured her knee, etc. Her car was totalled. The insurance said it was her fault. The officer said it was clearly the man's fault. He ran the red light. Unfortunately she had two previous accidents that were her fault. My daughter will not be driving for quite some time. Insurance is too high. All in all she is still with us which is what counts.

My oldest daughter is okay. She is swamped with work. She gets through it.

My grandchildren are fine. Growing too fast.

I have a number of health problems. I am not going to dwell on them. I take it one day at a time.

Hope I haven't been too wordy.

You weren't too wordy at all, Dragonfly.  :) It's lovely to get an update and hear how your family is doing.

I asked twice for demotions at work when the stress was too hard. The first company listened and never tried after that to put me in positions I wasn't cut out for (management). The second company did not listen, which was a contributing factor to my current condition. It worked out very well for me the first time I asked for a non-management position. Not everyone is cut out for it. I think your son made a good decision.

Your children and grandchildren are very fortunate to have you. It's obvious how loving and caring you are.

Peace

Hi, guys.....Sorry to hear about your problems.

I'm o.k.  My right retina is acting up a bit lately - I see flashing in one corner now and then.  I'm seeing my retina specialist on Tuesday.

I've had a hole (or tear - I always forget which) on it for a few years - the cause is spontaneous.

I had laser treatment for it a couple of years ago...may have to get it again (?).  Not a big deal - the treatment is in a Dr's office....no white coats or nurses etc....hurts a bit.

This doesn't affect my vision - the flashing, "floaters" are transparent.  My glasses prescription hardly ever changes.

Hello Peter  :)

Great to hear from you. I read some of your other recent posts and think you're doing marvelous! A trip to the CNE is quite the feat considering the crowds and sounds.  We went frequently when I was growing up and you just triggered happy childhood memories.

Good luck on Tuesday with the retina specialist.

Peace

Was doing not bad until Sat my garden isn't giving me as much as I would like but it is something. Struggling with hydro prices to get everything canned. My son was looking to have more time with his kids and I am very proud of the way he has dealt with things in his life. He has shown them that he is not only stable but a great parent. Then Sat he went out and ask that a neighbour turn down music as it was waking up his kids and got attacked by an uninvited guest with a baseball bat in the head. I was and am worried about the damage he is having trouble seeing and suffering panic attacks. Hope they get this guy in jail very soon.  Missing my other grandson who lives more than 2000 miles away they grow so fast and change so much is such a short time. Hope the weather holds for my garden with out any more tornados in my area. Just reg rain please and I should get the most of my little patch.

Update on right retina.  Retina specialist:  "The flashing is normal aging....your eyes are great."

I had brought food to the appointment in case I have to wait around for the laser treatment...LOL

Next appointment is 6 months from now, as usual.

Hello Everyone. Dragonfly you weren't too wordy. Sorry to hear about everybodies problems. It makes me reflect on how lucky I am .

I do however seem to be short of time, I'm not sure if this is because I've taken on too much or just that I'm getting older and can't get as much done in a day LOL.  I hope that every one has a good fall. Take Care. paul m
