AGAIN THIS YEAR: Partnering with the 16th Annual Toronto Psychopharmacology Update Day

Conference Description

The Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre’s Annual Conference is the only educational event focused on Obsessive-Compulsive & Related Disorders and Anxiety Disorders in Canada. The conference has previously won the Ivan L. Silver Award for Excellence in Continuing Mental Health Education. Now in our fourth year, we are happy to again be partnering with the 16th Annual Psychopharmacology Update Day. The programs are complementary, and conference costs will be greatly discounted if registering for both events!

This year will focus on what clinicians need to know about advances in treatment and newer technologies. In keeping with this theme, Dr. Z. Jeff Daskalakis, Temerty Chair in Therapeutic Brain Intervention and author of over 200 peer-reviewed publications in this area, will be speaking on emerging biomarkers and mechanisms of response to brain stimulation. We are proud to present the inaugural Thompson Award this year to Dr. Richard Swinson in honour of his work as a Canadian leader in anxiety disorders. Dr. Swinson, Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University, will be reflecting on the evolution of treatment of anxiety and his forecast for the future of care. The conference offers attendees a choice of workshops to meet a range of learner goals, with topics including: psychopharmacology in OCD; e-therapies; current uses of neuromodulation therapies; CBT; Mindfulness; and sessions on adults, youth, and families.
