I am the new Family and Youth Coordinator for the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario. My role here is to provide support to families that have a loved one between the ages of 14-35 who is showing signs of a first episode of psychosis. I provide education, counselling, information and referral to families in group and one-to-one situations.

If you would like to learn more about psychosis, I encourage you to read our “Psychosis and Young People” fact sheet on our website. If you think you may benefit from some of the support that I can offer, please contact me at 416-486-8046 ext 300 or leannen@mooddisorders.ca. Keep in mind our office is closed beginning Monday, December 26, 2011 and will re-open on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Before the holidays, I’d like to share some information that might be helpful to some families. The following websites offer tips and reminders for supporting someone with a mental illness over the holidays and managing stress.
