Volunteer Coordinator and Peer Support Worker

About me…

I graduated with honours in the Bachelor of Arts Psychology from Ryerson University. I began as a TIPS volunteer at MDAO and then facilitated with the Family and Youth Early Intervention Services Coordinator on the recovery program Coping Through the Arts and Peer Support.

What I do…

I am a Peer Support Worker and Volunteer Coordinator at MDAO. I provide one-to-one and group peer support to those with mood disorders, including anxiety and depression. I facilitate and train volunteers and MDAO affiliates in Level One Peer Support, while providing continued support and guidance as a supervisor. I also coordinate the recruitment, scheduling, and organization of volunteers at MDAO. I completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training in November 2016 and have become a Provisional Trainer of the safeTALK workshop. I am supporting the development and training of a Youth Advisory Committee with the aim of recreating MDAO programming for a youth audience. I hope to continue to provide mental health care and support to individuals and families, and empower people towards their own recovery.
