General Discussion / Re: How is everyone doing?

I'm o.k....  I was taking a Dealing with Anxiety and Depression course at MDAO, but I quit - missing too many classes.  But I'll look at the workbook.

My brother with dementia - he's being assessed for long term care (?), or moving out of his house into an apartment setting?
He needs care re making meals, remembering his medications.
His son took away his car keys when his back was turned.....LOL

My younger brothers and I visited.  He later told his son that "the Germans" were nice.  We are German, but maybe he thought we were cousins from Germany?....LOL

I changed my mind on doing a memory study....  Might be a little stressful:  going all the way to Baycrest, trying to get family member to come with me, MRI's....etc...  I have enough medical appointments (nothing serious).

For the memory studies, they often want a spouse/family member to accompany the person in the study...so they can ask them re my memory.
I had told them I can MAYBE get a family member to accompany me once, not regularly.

Peter

Maybe I can do a study in the future.

Hi everyone,

 How is everyone doing.

I must say it has been a roller coaster for me. Things have happened in my family that have left me very sad and upset. I am working through it with the support of many people. I will be okay.

This weather hasn't helped either. Spring is on the way and that always makes me feel better.

Thank you.
One must find ways to remain strong when facing mental illness in the family.

Learned yesterday that he thinks he has two cats, instead of one.

Maybe he's gone downhill quickly?  He didn't think this when I saw him last week.......or, it doesn't mean much.

Cogniciti is associated with Baycrest.  Not sure if you have to be over a certain age to do the tests, volunteer to be a guinea pig.

Hello Sarahruth. Sorry to hear about your struggles. I agree with you that the illness can be as hard on the spouse as it is on the sufferer. Hopefully your husband will find a way to get better and ease the pressure that you are under. Take Care. paul m

The longer we go through this journey, the longer I am starting to get worse like my husband. This is tough. Really tough. I am drawn to depression because everything is so hard. I am the breadwinner and the family everything. Tough times and it is really hard. Going on 5 years now. Hard to not become like them.

I got a cellphone in August (?).  I had a mental block about it - it'll be complicated.  I'm kind of afraid of technology, but not really - I'm on the internet a lot.

Took my phone to Samsung today....it died, and wouldn't charge.  They'll notice I've never used it, and slap me in the face!   ::)

Turns out, it worked when the Samsung person used HER cable....weird!  Just bought MY cable from Bell.

Didn't make any calls today, but did some housekeeping, without looking at my Android for Dummies.

Peter

I procrastinate on "difficult, complicated" things....cell phone, income tax (someone doing it for me this year).
