I agree with you momfellinglost. I shouldn't be political either however it sickens me as to what the new ontario government is doing. Cutting back on services that are very needed. Care for autism, day care, prescription drugs for children and retiree's. I could go on and on.

Someone who is rich. Not very educated in government matters and doesn't know how the middle class and poor live. In it for himself and his family and friends.

I will probably get flack with my views. That is okay.

Hi Peter,
Maybe I don't make sense. I find that I procrastinate is because I can't do things that I used to do. It is very frustrating. I should ask a family member or professional to help me. I is hard to admit that you can't do certain things anymore. So I procrastinate.

some people are hypochondriacs. I know a few.One of my husband's aunt was like that. She got prescriptions that were not needed for imaginary ailments  which harmed her health.

Unfortunately when something is really wrong it is hard to believe them. When his aunt was dying I thought oh it is not serious. It is some complaint that doesn't mean anything.

Hi Peter,
I hardly use salt also. As you say there is a lot of hidden salt in foods. Should make food from scratch to watch salt intake. At this stage of the game being older and mostly on my own I can't be bothered.

Hi Peter,

I am sorry that you are experiencing anxiety due to your age and what you have experienced with your brother.

I am turning 68 next month. I have a number of health issues. I voiced to my daughter the other day that I worry about my kidney function which is not good. I fear I might eventually have to go on dialysis. My daughter told me not to worry at the moment and to take it one step at a time. I try not to dwell on my health issues and enjoy each day as much as possible. Her advice is really good.

I am thinking of you.

Welcome comfortably numb,

My mental illness has spanned over many years. With great support from my family, friends, medical professionals I am now quite stable.
I am saying quite. Not always believe me.

There are certain triggers for me. Becoming overtired is a big one. Then the negative thoughts start to come in. I ruminate a great deal about what people have said to me that seem unkind. I analyze some of the things I have done in the past as being really bad and effecting my loved ones. As a woman I think hormones play a large part too. Being an insulin dependent diabetic also effects my moods. The weather definitely makes a big difference. Especially spring and fall. Although sometimes it can be the sunniest day and I still feel that heavy mood of depression setting in.
Regular diet, rest, routine help a lot.
Expecting to much of myself definitely does not help. I want to do too many things at once and have them done yesterday. I have to pace myself.

We are very friendly, non-judgmental and supportive here. Please post anytime. What you have to say can help us all greatly. I have learned much from this forum. I feel I have found friends here.

I am really sorry about your brother. I will be thinking of you.

Hi Peace,
I am glad that you are doing better. It sounds like you are feeling better about yourself. I have been thinking about you and how you are   doing.
Hi Peter, Hope you are feeling better.
I am doing quite well. I am excited. I am going to be an Oma (grandmother) again. My son and his partner are having a baby boy. Due date is supposed to be Feb. 14. The second name that they are giving him is after my deceased husband. I am very sentimental about this and feel very honored that they have chosen my husbands name.
I am going camping for the last time this year. It is for Thanksgiving and the campers have halloween there. We decorate the campsite and the kids dress up and go around around for candy. Even me and my daughters dress up. My son, partner and 3 kids are going. As for myself and my two daughters. We have turkey dinner there. It is a yearly tradition and is always fun.
I have been lonesome in the past. Now due to some circumstances my youngest daughter is staying with me about 80 percent of the time. She goes home on her days off to be with her sister to their place.
I cannot complain.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

General Discussion / Re: Ever had b bugs in your place?

Peter, I don't have a box spring. Just a single mattress in a bed frame with slats. That works for me.

Hope you don't have any more problems with bugs.

General Discussion / Re: Sleep clinic...
« on: August 27, 2018, 12:15:16 PM »
Hi Peter,
I went for a sleep study. I didn't sleep much. I was told that I needed to do another one. I was borderline. The doctor that is the head of the sleep study is a crook. All he wanted to do was to sell me one of those machines. The doctor asked how much I drove. I said not much. I read in reviews that he will take your license away. Reviews totally not good on him. I was sent for this study by my kidney specialist. When I saw him again he was very happy that I didn't buy the machine.
At home I became very angry about the fact that the doctor wanted another sleep study. No way I am doing it again. Although the doctor led me to believe I had a very slight sleep apnea he was playing on me for his profit.
I am not saying that sleep studies are not good for some people.

General Discussion / Re: Worried about getting dementia......
« on: June 18, 2018, 02:17:21 PM »
Hi Peter,   Somehow I don't think you are suffering from dementia. I am 67 years old.

Sometimes when you are retired it is easy to forget what day it is. We don't always have a calendar in front of us which I think is great. Why mark time at our age. We are entitled to not be on a schedule. Am I making sense. I mix up my days quite often.

I forget things from one minute to the next. This may sound funny but I think that we have lived a good number of years. We have too much in our brains so we forget things. Is that wishful thinking on my part? I find I remember things from the past better than things happening in the present. For example I remember older actors but not the younger ones. This may be off topic. A lot of times I think actors or other people are older than me. Then I realize we are the same age or they are younger.

My daughter who is 41 years old and an accountant forgets things I tell her all the time. Her brain is so overloaded. She works so hard at work and hardly gets a break. When it comes to her personal life her mind is saturated and she forgets things.

I think everyone forgets things. Young or old. As Peace says we overthink that we may have dementia or alzheimers. My son doesn't pick up on things because his mind is so focused on something that he doesn't compute.

My neighbor who is 85 years old was beating herself up. She left her purse in the grocery buggy and realized she didn't have it until she got home. She thought she was losing her mind. I said I have left my purse behind a number of times. Her daughter-in-law who is of course is younger says she has done it too. When I speak to my neighbor I find that her mind is very sharp. More so than mine sometimes.

Don't beat yourself up Peter. From what you post I think your mind works fine.

General Discussion / having a bit of a tough time right now
« on: June 17, 2018, 08:44:52 PM »
Hi everyone,
This time is difficult for me. It was my wedding anniversary yesterday. It would have been 46 years. My husband and I made it to 39 years.

Father's day brings back many memories.

At the end of this month it is the anniversary of my husband's passing. I can't believe it has been 7 years.

Although I miss my husband every day I have much to be thankful for. My family, friends and the professional health care givers who help me.

My son is almost divorced. He now lives with a woman that really cares about him. His partner has a daughter who I have adopted as my grandchild. My son also has a daughter and son. They get along so well.

On the whole I am doing quite well.

I hope everyone else is doing well or the best that they can.

Again almost afraid to post this. Don't want this to be all about me.
