Hey Dragonfly,

Sorry to hear that, it sounds like a stressful situation for everyone involved. From your description a whole lot of different factors are in play there. My psychiatrist introduced me to some solid cognitive techniques when it comes to situations like this that I find helpful for the over thinking and anxiety. It's pretty simple, you think of the best outcome, the worst outcome and then the most likely outcome. It might be worth trying to work that out in your head, for me it's super hard to step back and I can't always do it. But the court systems are supposed to be only concerned with the welfare of the child, so given that is the case and the way you described the stability of your son's environment I would be hopeful for your grandsons future.

In regards to the her not claiming she understand the contract and what not, that is the job of the lawyers to figure out. If her lawyer is not able to clarify it for her it may just be a delay tactic...but she may not even realize she's doing it. Trying to put yourself in her shoes for a bit and ask how you would react.

Anyways I'm not sure if that helped but if you want to talk feel free to pm me whenever.
I hope everything works out for you all!

Thanks for the feedback Paul. yeah I know its a conventionally high dose for cipralex. I was doing well at 30mg for a long time but am in the middle of a depressive cycle and so we decided to up it for a bit for past 6 months or so. That was something my doctor suggested that we might go down to the 30mg but when we talked it out the amount of dosage that I was taking, at least to my recollection, didn't affect that side effect or my weight equilibrium. I may end up trying that as a hail mary before considering a switch in meds.

In regards to the viagra and cialis, I've heard it can be rather expensive and not covered by plans...I wasn't really thinking of it as something I would be taking all the time, I don't really have the libido I had 10 or even 5 years ago, I just feel like I need to make some kind of effort to maintain some kind of sexual activity for the health of my relationship with my fiancee. But I mean if it works, I'd rather pay for half a dozen of those pills every month than to start gambling in the meds game.

I'll let you guys know how it works out. In the meantime if anyone has any other experiences with any of the drugs/side-effect mentioned, I'm all ears!

So I have been having issues in the bedroom so to speak since I started my medication.

I've been taking 40mg cipralex for quite some time now and it works great for bodily anxiety and more or less with the not wanting to live sentiment...The only side effects have been 20ish pounds of weight gain and the sexual difficulties. So I can't really complain because the payoff is well worth it for me, but I asked the head doctor today about possible solutions to help with "gettin er done".

Since I asked about it awhile back he suggested I do more regular exercise, which has helped with getting in the psychological mindset of wanting to do such activities but still having issues. Today he said the next possible steps would be either switching to another drug in a similar class to see if it works the same but with reduced side effects. He gave me a list of 3 drugs that would fit my treatment and I said I'd like to do some research and get some feedback from others. I'm really hesitant to mess with anything though as it is working so well from the total train wreck I was before. It's really a frightening proposition.

The other option he said, for short term, is some people take viagra. I said I'd like to give that a try next month while I think over the other options...seemed like I should try the easier way first.

So the reason I wrote this whole thing was to ask if anyone has tried these other drugs and what they were like. Without further ado.... the contestants arrrreeee Zoloft ; Cymbalta ; and Celapram.

As always, thanks for your support  :)

thanks  :)

and yes I plan on being active. Since I moved across the country for graduate school several years ago, I don't have the amount of friends and support to talk to than if I had stayed out west where I grew up. I'm finding the time with the shrink is always too short and I always have something I want to say. I'm the majority of us are in the same boat...

Hey everyone!

I've recently signed up for the organizational membership and the forums here. I've been in therapy and meds for a couple years now (dealt with anxiety/panic issues for almost 20 yrs and cycles of depression for last 10 yrs). I wish I got help earlier but denial is a powerful thing...

My treatments have been quite helpful (I wasn't expecting any miracle fixes) but I feel like connecting with other people experiencing similar issues and feelings will be helpful. Since I was diagnosed, I've felt the need to advocate whenever I can for mental health awareness and help peers however I can. I'm finishing up my phd right now in medical ethics, and have recently narrowed a lot of my research on mental health issues (present at the Canadian Bioethics Society regularly on the relationship of theories and my personal experiences). My aspirations are to become a clinical bioethicist, hopefully specializing in mental health.

If anyone is ever interested in talking about that stuff or anything really for that matter let me know!
