Hello Peter. My wife and I exchange our gifts whenever it's convenient. This yr it was tonight as Christmas Eve we will be traveling and we will spend Christmas day with our sons and their families and I'm too lazy to lug presents 300 km , just to bring them back LOL. Take Care. paul m

Hello Peter.  I am only guessing here but I presume the student would be under a doctors supervision. Do you know if the Doctor would see you once in a while or just review the students notes. I'm just curious, I've worked with students before, but never for psychology problems and I jut wondered how it works. If you decide to go that way, keep us informed. Thx and Take Care. paul m

Hello Dave and welcome.  This is a peer support forum, which means support is based in mutual support provided by peers and/or loved ones, and friends.  While this isn't a chat room, it is a place where a person can receive support. It is more of a bulletin board style. If you have a question , problem or just feel like venting some, please do so, somebody will likely post a reply. Take Care. paul m

General Discussion / Re: I've Found OCD Treatment
« on: October 13, 2017, 01:40:04 am »
Hello Peace. Good for you in finding a treatment. I know that you have looking for a long time.  Often the toughest and hardest thing about getting well is finding treatment in the first place. The second toughest is trying to follow through with it through all of our moods. Good Luck with it. Take Care. paul m

General Discussion / Re: results of blood test
« on: September 10, 2017, 11:46:56 pm »
Hello Dragonfly. Where I get my blood work done is a sub lab to life labs so I can't get my results on line, but if I could I would.

As Buddy Mack sez there are many reasons why a blood sample could be outside of a given range. However I do like to see my results so I bug my doctor(s) for them. The reason why I like to see my results are two fold. Take a kidney function test. I may be at the high end  of the acceptable range and one year later be at the low end of the acceptable range. ( labs generally uses three ranges , over, acceptable and under or some variation thereof, plus an actual number. ). If I go from being great to just barely acceptable I want to know why or I may want to ask for a retest to see if their was some reason for the difference.  My G.P. , who sees thousands of test results in a year has a tendency to say everything is fine as long as it's in the acceptable range.

Plus, while I have every confidence in my G.P., he is human and human make mistakes. I'm sure that every morning dozens of those tests pour out of his fax machine and are under stuck under his nose for his review and I'm sure it's possible for him to miss something.

In regards to the actual numbers I don't always understand them either, but I can understand the ranges that they usually give. For example if 1-10 is unacceptable and 11-20 is ok, but 21-30 is poor and my reading is 24 then I know I might have a problem. The same goes if my reading is 18 on one test and 6 mths later its 12 I might want to know why the big decrease.  Whereas my G.P. probably doesn't pull out my last blood test and compare the two. As long as it's in the acceptable range it's ok.

Sorry for the long winded explanation. Take Care. paul m

Hello Dragonfly. Thx for the tip about pictures and for the best wishes on our move.  We stayed at Earl Rowe last yr , it's fairly close and we just wanted to get away overnight. Between the camp grounds and the day use area if you follow the river you usually can see salmon running about this time of yr.

I've been donating stuff to whoever will take it. Some of the younger kids in our neighbour hood have gotten knapsacks, camping equipment , duplicate tools, etc. Clothes and books have been going to the Salvation Army store and a few things we haven't figured out where they are going.  I know that I won't be having a yard sale as I hate having yard sales. If I put an item worth 50 bucks on sale for $5 bucks and somebody wants to haggle over 50 cents or a dollar I don't do well temper wise LOL.

I know that part of yards sales is supposed to be the fun of haggling over the price, but I hate haggling so I neither go to or have yard sales. On the other hand I have one son who thinks it's great to go out on a Saturday morning and haggle. To each their own LOL. I hope that you enjoy your next camping trip. Take Care. paul m

Hello Dragonfly. We got an extension on our move date and have an extra 3 weeks to move, but I am on a first name basis with the guy at the local dump and the recycle guy really hates us lately LOL. It's amazing how much stuff you pick up in 31 yrs. I'm not to sentimental about possessions, but my wife is having a real hard time trying to decide what stuff to keep. As we are going from 1800 sq ft plus a full basement to 900 sq ft and no basement it has been a real chore trying to downsize. .

Yes we will still be in the same area, about 15 minutes away. Thx for asking and Take Care. paul m

p.s I say that you were camping a little while ago, I hope that it went well. We will be camping this weekend at Bronte Creek , we have never tried that park before.

General Discussion / Re: Much more confident lately - I can feel it.
« on: August 27, 2017, 10:33:14 pm »
Hello Peter. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling much more confidant lately.  Living where I do in the boonies, I can wear whatever I like pretty much when ever I like, but I tend to keep covered up as I hate sunburns LOL.

Going to Hanlans wouldn't bother me, but it would bother my wife, so we have never been there.  Having said that we often go to Wasaga Beach for picnics and swimming.  The sun can be very therapeutic. Take Care. paul m

Hello Dragonfly. My mood changes tend to be minor these days, compared to what they used to be like, but definitely when my sugar levels go out of wack it doesn't help. (I have type 2 diabetes).  Right now I'm having problems controlling the diabetes with diet and pills so the doc and I are looking for answers other than insulin if it can be avoided. And yes I'm a bit moody right now, but that's also partly because I have a lot going on in my life right now.

In regards to nightmares, I had a real problem for yrs, but my pdoc and I were able to spend some time examining them and possible causes and they have really tapered off since then. Take Care. paul m
