Hello Peter. I found the mask really easy to use when I pu my mind to it. You can also get various masks and hook ups. Mine covers my nose only. Take Care. paul m

Hello Peter. It's normal to be frazzled when someone close to you passes. Hopefully your grief will pass and be replaced with fond memories of your brother. Take Care. paul m

General Discussion / Re: Relapse
« on: October 30, 2018, 06:49:46 pm »
Hello Comfortably numb and welcome to the forum. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, answer other people's questions or use the forum to vent out some of life's frustrations.

Why do we all of a sudden relapse? I don't know, I wish I did and my life wouldn't have had so many ups and downs.  It's good that you held out against drinking heavily and hopefully this relapse will be short. I know one thing that helps me get through them is telling myself that I got through past ones and I'll get through the next one.

I also find it better if I take a complete inventory of my habits/ lifestyle. Am I getting enough quality sleep? Am I exercising the same amount? Is my diet about the same?  and a whole host of other things that help to keep my moods stable. I'm not saying that you are doing anything wrong but it never hurts to see if there is anything different. I know that something simple like too much coffee or 30 minutes a day less sleep can eventually upset my moods.

Most mental illnesses are cyclic in nature. I know there are times when I have to increase my meds a little bit to offset a mood change, I then decrease them when I'm stable. (under a docs supervision) Take Care. paul m

Hello Peter. Last yr we got cable for the first time in nearly 40 yrs. We don't watch much more tv than we did when we had only one channel. Not much good on in my opinion, but I seem to be in a minority LOL. We find that we use our DVD player more. You can even get movies free from the library. Anyways I hope that you find some good things to watch. I will admit that some shows on cable are worth watching.  Take Care. paul m P.S. I hope that you will find time to continue posting

Hello Peace. Glad to hear that you are doing better than you expected. I'm not doing too bad. My last CT Scan came back clear so that's a big plus. Like Dragonfly we are going camping for the long weekend. Take Care. paul m

Hello Peter. Unfortunately some doctors have something against lorazepam, Clonazepam and other benzo's.  However sometimes if you bug them enough and state how it used to help, then they sometimes will prescribe it.All you can do is ask. Take Care. paul m

Hello Peter. I never got a good nights sleep either whenever I've had to stay at a sleep clinic (4 times). I also hate being forced to get up at 6am , not to mention being wired before 10pm. I hope that you get a good result from the clinic. Take Care paul m

Hello Peter. Sometimes I think that I'm losing my memory too. However my wife forgets things on about the same pace that I do so I figure it's just a symptom of getting older. In regards to going into a room and forgetting why I was there happens to me too (my wife also). I also tend to lose things , like the car in a big parking lot. I find that as I age I have to stop and fix in my mind where there car is otherwise I have no clue which part of the lot I left it in. Take Care. paul m

Hello Dragonfly. I don't know what I would do if I lost my spouse, so you have my sympathies. How am I doing? Sort of like the weather this yr. Some good days but a lot of days with dark clouds. No good reason for that either, usually I'm down for a while in the spring but by now I usually feel better. I do feel better most days, but for some reason not all of them.

However I'll just have to concentrate on the good and try and forget the bad. Take Care. paul m
