cataracts....
« on: October 07, 2015, 04:33:14 pm »
Retina specialist told me yesterday I have cataracts in both eyes.  I was taken aback, but not worried.  "Old age" he said.

I sometimes briefly forget if I'm 68 or 69 in June.  69.

This is a repeat, but I see a retina specialist because I have a tear and a hole on the back of my right retina.  I forgot to ask him yesterday if I still have both.  Not serious, as I only see him twice a year.

I had my retina repaired via laser.  Also not serious - done in Dr's office kind of spur of the moment, hardly hurt, no anaesthetic or anything.
I think a hole and tear are kinda funny.  :P

Hole and tear don't really affect vision - but can cause flashing lights and GIANT 'floaters," but they're transparent.  Haven't had those in 2 years or so.

Hello Peter. Unfortunately our bodies don't seem to improve with age.  I notice that I can't hear quite as well as I used to, although sometimes that can be a blessing LOL.

Did your specialist suggest getting something done about the cataracts or just waiting until they get worse? Take Care. paul m

Hi Peter and Paul,

Unfortunately things don't function as well as we get older. My kids also keep telling me that I need a hearing aid.

My sister's optometrist has told her that she should have an operation for cataracts. My sister says it doesn't bother her so she doesn't want the operation. My sister does the most beautiful, fine intricate cross stitch pictures. She does just fine.

I try not to dwell on the health problems that I have. I try my best to enjoy everyday with my family.

I dwell on things, but not cataracts.

I guess wait until they get worse....which could be a long time.
