Looking for members of a Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC)

As we mentioned at our recent Annual General Meeting, a poll of membership revealed a great interest in having the MDAO get more formally involved in partnerships with researchers. One opportunity that has emerged is that a new study, called CAN-BIND, has been funded to look for blood tests and brain imaging scans that will help find a test for depression. The MDAO is currently working with research leaders Dr. Sid Kennedy and Dr. Sagar Parikh at the University Health Network in Toronto to do two things: (a) start a series of public education events on Depression and (b) collaborate in helping the CAN-BIND study develop a Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) to help guide the research and related education activities.

We would like to invite applications to join the Patient and Family Advisory Committee. This PFAC committee will include 4 members drawn from the MDAO and 4 other individuals identified separately by CAN-BIND staff. For the 4 members from MDAO, individuals may apply by reading the attached Terms of Reference and then submitting the other attached document, which asks a series of questions about interest and experience. The MDAO will review the applications, select members for the committee, and pass these names on to the CAN-BIND researchers for final invitation to PFAC.

If you are interested, please carefully read the Terms of Reference which provides a general description of the duties. And then complete and email in your application!

Thanks
Shelly

Please note, applications are longer being accepted for PFAC.
