Mad Pride – Call for Submissions: Mad Pride is an arts, culture, and heritage festival created by psychiatric survivors, consumers, mad people, and folks the world has labelled “mentally ill.” Mad Pride Toronto takes place the week of July 5 to 14, 2014. You can host or participate in a consumer/survivor-driven event, performance (poetry, spoken word, theatre, dance, music, comedy, book reading, or other), film screening, talk, presentation, workshop, or panel discussion – or enter their third annual juried Art Exhibition. RBC Canadian Painting Competition – Call for Submissions:The RBC Canadian Painting Competition was established in 1999, with the support of the Canadian Art Foundation to help nurture and support promising new artists in the early stages of their careers. Deadline is May 6, 2014. 15 finalists will be announced on June 14, 2014 and the winners on October 1, 2014 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal.


In the Brampton area this summer? Art in the Open – Call for Artists:The Brampton Arts Council is calling for artists and artisans for their annual outdoor show and market Art in the Open. Part-time and full-time vendor opportunities are available for creators of hand-crafted, original works. Art in the Open takes place every Saturday, 7 am – 1 pm in downtown Brampton as a compliment to the local Brampton Farmers’ Market. Find it at the north-east corner of Main & Queen from June to October. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2014.
